New Intermediate Playground

Helping our students and community enjoy the outdoors and stay active is very important to us. We need more play space, so the Pacific Way Parent Advisory Council is taking on fundraising and installing a new playground for everyone to enjoy!

We are seeking to create new and more challenging play experiences, aimed at exciting our intermediate students, and have also sought to include more inclusive play features to help bring play to everyone.

Schedule

We have completed Phase 1 of 3 of this project in August 2023 which included excavation, levelling, sprinkler relocation, retaining walls, drainage, fencing and compaction.

We are planning to complete Phase 2 of 3 of this project by August 2024, which includes installation of half of the play equipment and the play surfacing.

We plan to complete Phase 3 of 3 in the following year as funds are available.

Budget

We’re challenged on this project with non-ideal site conditions, as well as the rising cost of materials and labour. We have an estimated budget of $250,000 to bring all phases of this project to completion, and as of January 2024, we need to raise an additional $29,000 by March 2024 in order to purchase equipment for installation in summer 2024.

We are asking for donations from businesses in the area to help us meet our funding goals, and we’re also seeking assembly help for the playground equipment itself.
